What is the Somers Exempt Volunteer Firemen's Benevolent Association, Inc.?

New York State has developed a program for Fire Departments providing funds to help the members and their families who may become indigent in times of trouble, which is called the 2% initiative. We are officially chartered by the State of New York as a Benevolent Association. As such, we are governed by the Firemen's Association of the State  of New York [FASNY] Blue Book which can be found on the FASNY web site. We exist for the sole purpose of the Good and Welfare of our Benevolent and Fire Department  members. Only Members and former members of the Somers Volunteer Fire Deptartment are eligible for membership, as provided by our charter, by-laws and FASNY Blue Book reequirements.
